(a.k.a. How to Feed the Roommate Who Keeps You Alive)
The liver-friendly diet isn’t about eating sad little lettuce leaves and longing for the glory days of pizza. It’s about feeding your body in a way that makes your liver’s life easier — so it can keep you alive and kicking.

The Basics
Go easy on the salt – Too much causes fluid retention and increases blood pressure.
Cut down on added sugar – Extra sugar turns into fat, which can clog up your liver.
Avoid heavily processed foods – The less your liver has to filter out, the better.
Prioritize lean proteins – Fish, chicken, turkey, legumes.
Embrace good fats – Olive oil, avocados, nuts, seeds.
Load up on veggies – The more colours on your plate, the better.
Why This Works
Think of your liver like a co-worker who’s been working overtime for years. Give them simple tasks, and they’ll catch up. Give them a mountain of junk, and they’ll eventually quit.
A Few Easy Swaps
White bread → Whole grain bread
Sugary soda → Sparkling water with lemon
Fried foods → Baked, grilled, or air-fried options
The “Liver-Friendly, Not Misery-Friendly” Rule
You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to banish every treat. Just aim for the 80/20 rule — 80% healthy choices, 20% things you enjoy that aren’t so perfect. Your liver (and your sanity) will thank you.
